Artistic Chaos by Maxine Green

The words 'Time for Tea' are written in lettering reminiscent of a clock face, on a striped background with parts of a teapot and teacup visible to left and right.

Summer 2024: "Time for Tea"

This piece was gifted as part of my summer art giveaway. I made a copy for myself though, because I enjoyed the graphic so much.

Copy of the 'Time for Tea' artwork in place underneath a clock in the artist's kitchen, with a teapot and mug below

Copy in situ in my own kitchen.

Brightly coloured circular painting of blue flowers on a background of stylised leaves.

"Forget me nots" - Another piece from the art giveaway.

Photo of a rock, on which the word 'Bicamp' has been drawn in stylised script, with a halo of bright pinks, blues and purples surrounding it.

A memento of a fun event over the summer.

Closeup of a multicoloured field of metallic resin, with circular patterns caused by magnets acting from underneath.

The books of enlightenment are book-shaped lamps painted with resin based pigments. This one uses magnetic pigments for a holographic effect that changes from different angles.

The same book shaped object from further away. The circular patterns look different sizes from the new angle. Book shaped lamp with a front cover that looks like blue and white clouds, with sparkling stars and silvered edges. The words 'Book of Enlightenment' are written across the centre in a gothic script.

This book of enlightenment uses glow in the dark or UV reactive pigments so that the design looks different in different light conditions.

The same book, but the blue in the background is glowing brighter due to being viewed under UV light.

The pandemic hit at a particularly low point for both mental and physical health, but a little art still happened.

Two plague doctor shapes are outlined in white on a black background, facing each other, with a textured white heart shape formed in the space between their beak masks and their chests

"Pandemic Love" - Inspired by trying to navigate long distance relationships during a pandemic, whilst also being medically vulnerable. White gel pen on black card.

Four small paintings of a rabbit on a hillside next to a tree. Each is pictured at a different time of day: One in golden dawn light, one in midday sun, one at sunset, one at night, with glittering stars.

Trapped indoors and struggling with severe migraine due to medication withdrawal, the artist resorted to making tiny miniatures with any materials that came to hand. These four were painted with nail polish. July 2020. (Gifted to a friend)

Closeup of the 'midday' rabbit painting. The rabbit is a dark silhouette against the blue sky, looking up towards the wind-blown tree.

Tiny Bunny models a couple more miniatures, these ones done with paint sticks. August 2020.

A toy rabbit is posed with another tiny rabbit painting placed on a tiny easel. A larger painting in rainbow colours stands on a slightly larger easel. Tiny Bunny is posed as the artist of another small rabbit painting on an easel, this one with a deeper blue sky and two smaller rabbits munch on grass alongside the original bunny. Ink drawing of a foot poised in mid air, about to step on a particularly malevolent-looking slug, with angry looking eyes and vampire fangs.

The artist lost their loop earplugs in a field due to the fiddly case, and drew this artist's impression of the issue in response to a request to 'send them a picture of the problem'. It has to say that their customer service is excellent. Paint pen on vinyl. August 2023.

Pre-pandemic work.

A large and detailed crow head looks over a field of text. Zoomed out to view the whole page, a tale is told in crazed, difficult to read handwriting behind illustrations of crows

'Crows' - Illustrated short horror story, ink and crayon on paper. A3 sized. 2018

An elderly punk looks blankly at the viewer over a glass of water, mildly holding a cut-throat razor, as his silhouette on the wall takes on a more threatening appearance.

Nightside Series, inspired by the Nightside books by Simon Green.

A slim beautiful woman with pale skin, long dark hair and entirely black eyes, in front of a full moon, wears a close-fitting satin dress and holds out a finger as though she is considering performing some sort of magic. A distorted figure with horns, sunken eyes, and too many contorted limbs is crammed into a cage so tightly that the bars appear to be passing through its flesh.

Illustrated overnight, this one caused my partner at the time to ask me if I was feeling okay. Ink on paper. A4 sized. 2015

A soft fuzzy pencil sketch of a bunny cuddling into the side of a protective, safe bear figure.

Bunny & Bear. Graphite pencil, 2014.

A jumbled but feminine-appearing figure is drawn from multiple angles at once to denote movement and sensation, in warm bright colours.

A selection of paintings and sketches are piled on a surface at various angles.
